Miles served for 30 years as a police officer in a variety of roles in West Yorkshire. Having developed the force response to the CBRN threat he was asked to work at the Home Office to work on developing the police operational response to CBRN incidents.
After this he worked at the Police National CBRN Centre where he developed various aspects of interagency working and developed the national CBRN exercise regime. Upon conclusion of this secondment he returned to Yorkshire to complete his career within the North East Counter Terrorism Unit. In addition to his operational skills Miles has considerable training experience. Since retirement he has been involved with validating a university degree course and was event controller for the Tour De France.
In his spare time he is a keen hiker and can often be found rambling around the local hills. He is also a bee keeper with around 30 hives producing not just stings, but also a small amount of honey.
